bio

I began painting 1978, having exhibited widely in London, Sussex, Ireland, Germany and Kenya since 1981, in mixed and one-woman shows. These have included Berlin, South Germany, the Brighton Festival, and the Whitechapel Art Gallery.
My work has always been inspired and drawn from the figure, drawing from an emotional and heart-felt response and expression to the body and the human condition.
My art-work develops mainly in two categories, best defined as my oil paintings being ‘Abstract Expressionism’, and my pencil and charcoal drawings as ‘expressive, figurative and abstract’ drawings from the figure and portraits. I also have a fascination with more highly figurative drawing and painting, so sometimes explore the creative warp and weft of the two.
I also work as an Acupuncturist, Shiatsu practitioner and Yoga Instructor.
This work and attention to the physical body with the pervading back-drop of Oriental philosophy, filters through my art practice.
My creativity seems to flow amidst the web of these two strands of my ‘working’ life.
I have been working as a complementary health practitioner since 1984, my practice is now in Lewes.
