Sarah Bristow - Artist

I began painting 1978, and followed a passion of drawing from life, and exploring the colours and textures of oil paint to carve out and express some essential qualities of being. I am part of an artistic family, with influences of colour, form and texture directly inspired and learnt from my mother and father, a weaver and architect. My sister is a jewellery designer.

Since 1975 my parents lived in Kenya, and my sister now lives in Morocco, therefore the African continent has also been a source of inspiration.

I also work as an Acupuncturist, Shiatsu practitioner and Yoga Instructor.

This work and attention to the physical body with the pervading back-drop of Oriental philosophy, filters through my art practice. My creativity seems to flow amidst the web of these strands of my ‘working’ life.

I have been working as a complementary health practitioner since 1984, my practice is now in Lewes.
